For the 2004 Biennial, artist Maurizio Cattelan intentionally destroyed one of his sculptures and interred its boxed-up remains in the Whitney’s Madison Avenue building. A few weeks back, with Museum staff including curators Chrissie Iles and Donna De Salvo by his side, the artist reburied the work at the new Whitney. Check out this week’s New Yorker for the story.
