Antarctica Chilena, Chile | March 13, 2015 The Andean Condor, a bird with one of the largest wingspans in the world, roosts among inaccessible cliff faces covered in Guano. Juveniles, like this one, are usually brown in color and as the bird matures its feathers change to include a black and white pattern. The Condor is extremely shy and though many flew off as I climbed up to their rock face home, several stayed and gave me an investigative flyby. #onassignment #nature #photojournalism #bir...

In the News: Brazil’s Effort to Control Zika VirusIn the last four months, Brazil’s authorities have recorded nearly 4,000 cases of microcephaly - an incurable form of brain damage - and have identified the mosquito-borne Zika virus as a likely culprit. Zika, a virus from the same family as dengue and West Nile, and with similar if milder symptoms, was unknown in Latin America before this year, and has spread rapidly among a population that lacks immunity. According to the World Health Organizat...

Govandi Slum, India | October 14, 2015 Spent the morning on a flight to Bombay to shot in Govandi, a slum which is arguably the poorest part of Mumbai. The population is estimated to be 800K to 1 million people crammed into the outskirts of a garbage dump and lacking basic sanitation. But even there I was welcomed and found myself the subject of innocent curiosity. My tattoos are a big hit in India - and apparently so is my bald white head. Indians from all walks of life - rich and poor - are...

Last year, Reportage photographer Ed Ou spent several months in Arctic Canada documenting Inuit life, including the practice of hunting polar bear. His resulting work appears on Time.com and in next week’s Time Magazine International: [Ed Ou] shows a near-empty refrigerator, the product of a place where unemployment is in the double digits, and where a simple carton of milk can cost more than $10. Given those bleak conditions, it’s not surprising that the Inuit would hunt polar bears, as...

This was kind of one of those dream-job opportunities. I’ve always said one of my favorite things about living in Los Angeles area all of the diverse destinations you can get to in just a short drive. So when Acura asked me to come up with my ultimate thrill, I didn’t just want to do one thing…I wanted to do all the things. From the heart of LA, out to the desert, up in the mountains, then over to the beach – I took some friends, and filled the new 2015 TLX with everything I’d need for a...

New York City, NY | July 31, 2015 Back in the swing of the city. Finding the crumb of motivation, of creativity, is a constant unending search for me. I am always looking for a speck of reason. Why am I shooting? I often find myself shooting the single lone figure in the urban environment. Some people have told me many of my images feel lonely. I’ve decided to embrace that for a bit. A member of a volunteer paramedic unit responds to a bombing in Aleppo, Syria, in June 2014. The man is part of the Hanano Civil Defense team, which, for over a year, has been rushing to the site of Aleppo’s bomb blasts. The volunteers evacuate the injured, clean up the bodies of the dead, and fight fires. What they are best known for in Syria and abroad are the dramatic rescues - survivors pulled from beneath the rubble. Photographer Sebastiano Tomada spent eight days in Aleppo with these...
