This year Black Rock City was hit with heavy thunder and lightning storms early in the week. Our camp was already mostly set up before the storm came, so the only thing that effected us was the 2 inches of mud we collected on our shoes from walking around - which was easily remedied by tying plastic bags around our feet.  So yeah, if you hear about the year they “shut down Burning Man,” it was really only a bummer for those not already through the gates. We were having a great time i...

Honestly, this past year has been one of the craziest years of my life. I’ve traveled more, seen more, and experienced more than I ever could have imagined. I’m so thankful for the places I’ve been, and people I’ve met because of it. Photography has truly taken me places, and I really hope this is just the beginning. I’m anxious to see what the next 12 months of my life look like, because the last leave me a bit in awe. Iceland - February 2015©Lauren Randolph

“Nowadays that artworks have some stronger uniqueness or messages, or some sort of extremity. I of course personally enjoy artworks, but I would rather love something universal for my own works rather than pursuing the uniqueness. Classic art like old paintings of portraits and landscapes may sound closer to me.” From Beyond the Land’s End, by Yumiko Kinoshita.

In Iran, it is forbidden for an unveiled woman to consort with an unrelated man, and yet, off the coast of Qeshm Island, young couples embrace during evening swims. Homosexuality is also illegal, but behind closed doors, gay Iranians smoke, drink, and flirt at discreet house parties. In all societies there is a contradiction between the law and human behavior, but this disparity exists in sharp relief in Iran. For many Iranians, particularly the young, life finds its fullest expression at the bo...

For World Photo Day, a Look Behind the LensAugust 19th has been celebrated as World Photo Day for the last several years, commemorating the date in 1839 when the French government purchased the patent to the daguerreotype and announced it as a “gift to the world.” Almost two centuries later, the world is so awash in photographs that we’re liable to take them for granted. Lest that happens, we wanted to highlight the stories of some Getty Images Reportage photographers who went to great lengths t...

Bendiksen writes: “we’ve heard it repeated countless times over the last decade: Newspapers are dying. New York City, NY | April 20, 2015 Times Square Walkscape . More Walkscape images can be found on @conceptual_ben
In a nutshell this project is best described with the following statement.
.
We live in a time of radical documentation: Cameras are within easy reach and CCTVs record our every move. Our landscape and street corners are painstakingly documented. Time and space are mere elements to be observed, recorded and stored away.
My response has been to deconstruct and compress all these ele...
